Our demonstrator on 29th May at the Peter Hall is Claire Western. Claire is a well-established artist whose work is shown and sold widely throughout the South West. She has combined painting and teaching over many years. She taught in secondary schools, and was most recently Head of Art at Queen’s College in Taunton. 

The distinctive nature of her work lies in her enthusiasm for experimentation and exploration of the expressive possibilities of combining unusual mixed-media materials and methods. 

For us she will demonstrate a mixed media, mainly collage piece based on Still Life in the morning.

Claire will conduct an afternoon workshop at East Budeigh village hall. 1.30 to 4.30. £20.  Participants will prepare mixed media surfaces as backgrounds, then some rich, painted surfaces which will be cut up and collaged over the backgrounds. We will use acrylic paint, sponges, scrapers and stencils to enrich an add detail to the final pieces.

She will provide the objects and everything required to do this, including paints, board, collage materials, sponges etc.
