The proud winner of this years May Cup, awarded for the most popular painting as voted by the public during the one day Gala Week Exhibition, was our Chairman Ralph Bingham.
Ralph's original oil painting called “Calm Day” was produced using water-based oil paints which Ralph prefers to acrylics, due to the slower drying time and ability to blend the paint on the canvas creating a softer effect, particularly visible in the softened cloud formations.
Ralph has become well known for his seascapes, winning both the Alan Cotton Trophy for best oil painting and Talisman Trophy for best acrylic in previous Exhibitions.
Ralph has donated this painting to the Club, where it will be offered as this years Summer Exhibition Raffle Prize.
Two charities have been selected, namely Muscular Dystrophy and Budleigh Salterton and District Hospiscare.
