I hope everyone is enjoying the fabulous hot weather and like me, looking forward to the Summer Exhibition in August.
For those of you who are not aware, we have a new Vice Chairman, John Washington, who as you know has been running the excellent and enjoyable series of portrait workshops. John will be a valuable addition to the committee and we welcome him on board! We are also thrilled to announce that we have a new Vice President, acclaimed artist John Hammond, who through his family, has a long association with the club. John judged the acrylic category at the 2015 Summer Exhibition and will join us on the preview evening to judge and meet everyone this year.
It is also exciting to be able to welcome a number of new members to the Club, who are all looking forward to exhibiting their work and joining in the social side of the club, making new friends and helping with manning the exhibition tables.
On that subject, if you haven’t already “signed up” to help and feel able to do so, then please let Teresa Creton or Jeanne and Keith Marley know and I am sure they will snatch your arms off!
We plan to have fresh homemade cakes for sale throughout the 10 days of the show and Jenny Young and Lisa Murdoch will be organising a rota for those of you who would like to make cakes. We will pay for the ingredients at £3 a cake so you won’t be out of pocket. The sale of homemade cakes was so successful at the one day show and so appreciated by the public.
Nick Speare has been working hard on improvements to the website and I would encourage as many people as possible to look at the site, it is the best way of keeping up to speed with club activities. Our Newsletters will be on the website, under news, and we will only print off hard copies for those members who do not have internet access.
The next “pop in” workshop at the Temple Methodist Hall is on August 9th from 1.30 - 5.30 and I am looking for someone to come forward to facilitate that session as I am not available that day, so if you can help, then please let me know.
So, lots going on at the moment and I look forward to seeing everyone’s work at the Exhibition.
Our main 10 day Exhibition is now less than a month away. Hope you have all been actively creating some wonderful artworks which we will look forward to seeing.
